Purity mixture and secondary patterns Do the actors support each other

Different stars can form a pure arrangement

Purity does not mean having only one kind of Ten God, and mixture does not mean having many. Shen calls an arrangement pure when its actors serve one another's purposes. Their functions matter more than their number.

For Xin Metal in Yin month, Jia is Direct Wealth and Bing Direct Officer. When both emerge, Wood produces Fire and Wealth supports Officer. Xin also needs roots sufficient to bear them. If Xin is weak and Fire already excessive, more Wealth feeding Fire does not meet the day master's need.

For Wu Earth in Shen month, Geng Eating God and Ren Indirect Wealth can emerge together. Earth produces Metal; Metal produces Water. When Wu can sustain the output, Geng can act, and Ren receives it, their functions connect. Two different gods can therefore illustrate purity.

The first arrangement directs interpretation toward resources supporting responsibilities; the second toward ability producing income. Neither requires every Wealth star to mean a windfall or every Officer to mean promotion. Two labels do not amount to two independent promises.

Control can also create cooperation

For Gui Water in Wei month, Yi is Eating God and Ji Seven Killings. Yi controls Ji. Shen includes this under purity because Eating God's task is precisely to restrain Killings.

That control needs a purpose and appropriate strength. Ji must need restraint, Yi must be able to provide it, and Gui must be able to sustain Wood output. Light Ji overwhelmed by Yi, or weak Gui depleted by strong Wood while enduring strong Earth, gives a different result.

For Ren Water in the same Wei month, Yi becomes Hurting Officer and Ji Direct Officer. If Officer is the useful authority and Yi attacks it without effective mediation or Resource protection, the two work against each other. Shen calls this mixture. Wood controlling Earth is the same elemental relationship; the function of the actor being controlled has changed.

Ask whether production supplies a real shortage and whether control restrains what actually needs restraint. That is more informative than classifying every production as good and every control as bad.

Locate the conflict between Wealth and Resource

For Jia Wood in Chen month, Earth Wealth and Water Resource can compete because Earth controls Water. If Jia depends on Water, active Wealth may damage the support needed to bear its demands. Wanting Wealth while needing Resource creates a specific conflict.

Their coexistence does not settle the judgment. Officer can connect Earth to Metal and Metal to Water. Peers can restrain excessive Wealth. Position may allow the actors to contribute without directly obstructing each other. Ignoring those relationships condemns an arrangement that may contain its own remedy.

The corresponding life question concerns income demands consuming training or support. A sustainable arrangement needs boundaries, shared responsibilities and work that can be delivered. Advice should address the actual competing demands.

A secondary pattern needs a leading line

For Xin in Yin month with Jia and Bing emerging, Shen names Direct Wealth as the primary pattern and Direct Officer as its secondary pattern. Jia is both the monthly principal qi and visible; Bing receives its production. This differs from Bing emerging while Jia remains hidden.

A secondary pattern describes how another function participates in the leading arrangement. With Wealth leading and producing Officer, periods must be assessed for Wealth's source, Officer's ability to receive it and the day master's capacity. Officer being damaged does not erase Jia, but it can remove the benefit of Wealth producing Officer. The two patterns are not independent accounts of good fortune.

Nor does every pair of emerging monthly stems automatically create a secondary pattern. Some cooperate; others compete for the leading role. Where Shen supplies an explicit example, follow its reasoning. Elsewhere, compare monthly origin, emergence, roots and interactions rather than granting automatic priority to the month stem.

A period can turn cooperation into obstruction or supply mediation where actors previously conflicted. Wealth feeding Killings or Resource suppressing the Eating God that restrains Killings changes a previously coherent arrangement. Explain that particular change; purity and mixture become useful judgments rather than decorative labels.
